CROSSING PATHS

Our Australian Life

Here is co-author Clare Shiu talking about our book project:

CROSSING PATHS will be a fabulous hardback book. Teachers notes will be available.

Crossing Paths Naringga Kulgan (Yugambeh)

Koe kolosi ihe kolosi anga ko hotau moui anga ai i Australia (Tongan)

我們的澳洲生活足跡 (Chinese, Traditional)

Raaste mein takraana: hamari Australian zindagi (Hindi)

Rasta maa takravanu: apdi Australia jindagi (Gujurati)

CROSSING PATHS will be a book by young Australians for young Australians.

Through true stories about people who inspire all of us around the country or who inspire others within their own communities, our readers will discover how they can achieve goals and make a positive impact.

We’re inviting high-school students from years 7 to 9 to join us in creating and developing the book’s content.

Just as diversity is a key part of Australian life, so it will be in CROSSING PATHS. It will feature writing from students in English and community languages, as well as drawings and photos.

The book will be fun, inclusive, ‘messy creative’ and ideal for classroom discussions.

Join us to create CROSSING PATHS

High-school students and teachers, please join us to create CROSSING PATHS. You can contribute words, drawings, cartoons and photos in response to the stories and categories in the book. Within each category, we’ll celebrate people who have done something outstanding, locally or nationally.

We’re also inviting you to give feedback on the content and the design, so the book really will be for you.

Please contact us if you want to be involved or simply to find out more.

Let us introduce ourselves

Bernadette Foley is the publisher at Broadcast Books

Clare Shiu is a high-school teacher, editor and bookseller

We are collaborating on this project because we want young people to have a voice — in any language. We want to use the stories of people who have achieved something major to show how you can overcome hurdles, even when life seems a bit tough, and kick your own goals.

Also, we want to use our skills in teaching, editing and publishing to create a beautiful book that will students, teachers and parents will read and enjoy.
