      <image:title>China Blonde - China Blonde</image:title>
<image:caption>How a newsreader’s search for adventure led to friendship, acceptance … and peroxide pandemonium in China Written by Nicole Webb Edited and produced by Broadcast Books From a TV newsreader in Sydney to a hotelier’s wife in the heart of China – this is a true story of reinvention, love, and finding your place in the world. Nicole Webb and her husband, James, are always up for an adventure, so when James is offered a job in the ancient city of Xi’an in north-west China, they jump at the chance. Nicole, James and three-year-old Ava pack up their home in Hong Kong and fly into a world they know nothing about -- a place where they know no one. Touching down, culture shock hits Nicole head on. It feels as if all eyes are on her and Ava, the only blondes in the jam-packed arrivals hall, two foreigners, so far from home. With honesty and humour, Nicole takes us on a journey of daily life in the Middle Kingdom at a time when the whole world is looking towards China. We follow her search for friendship and acceptance where she discovers, no matter what your culture or background, we’re connected the world over by the common thread of humanity. China Blonde gives us a very personal insight, told with a journalist’s eye view, into the lives of those who embraced Nicole with open arms. Her experience along the way will resonate with anyone who’s ever built a life in a new home – be it across the city or across the world. Over the last two and a half years, Bernadette has become my mentor, my coach, my editor and my agent. My person. You said you’d stick with me until the end, and just when we thought we’d exhausted all our opportunities, in a wonderful moment of synchronicity, along came Jon MacDonald. A man who instantly understood me, believed in me and knew where I needed to go and how to get there. Thank you both for guiding me through this entire process. <image:title>Leane Times - Leane Times</image:title>
<image:caption>One family’s transformation from Cornish farmers to Australian fighters Written by Wendy Frew Edited and produced by Broadcast Books Wendy Frew’s great-great-grandmother Alice Leane watched five of her sons and six of her grandsons march off to fight during the Great War. For Australians at the time, the Leane men were held up as the epitome of brave patriots willing to fight and die for King and Empire. The Leane women were also regarded highly, although their stories have until now largely been obscured. The men loomed large in Charles Bean’s official history and ‘the Fighting Leanes’ are well known to historians today. Their military achievements were indeed remarkable. They were acknowledged at the time with numerous honours, mentions in despatches, and swift promotions up the ranks. Yet when the author set out to discover who the ‘real’ men were beyond their impeccable military credentials, she stumbled across a longer, much richer genealogical tale. As the subtitle of this new book suggests, the Leane’s story, was not just a war story. It was also a complex saga of crossed continents and colonisation, and the complicated dynamics of a migrant family in search of prosperity and religious freedom. And a number of extraordinary women too. To order a copy of Leane Times visit the Anzac Memorial Shop.</image:caption>

<image:title>The Power of Possibility - The Power of Possibility</image:title>
<image:caption>A journey of inspiration and courage Written by Alexandra Andre Edited and produced by Broadcast Books and Brio Books Far from an elite athlete, Alexandra André bounced from one running injury to the next for the best part of five years before deciding to take part in the toughest one-day sporting event in the world. Without an ounce of confidence she could achieve it, Alexandra signed up to do the 2015 IRONMAN Melbourne – 3.8 km swim, 180 km ride, 42.195 km run. Training for the event became more of a journey than she could have imagined. One of great purpose, filled with synchronicities and opportunities. The Power of Possibility, now in its Second Edition and also available as an audiobook, is a compelling sports story and much more. Alexandra’s very real and honest account of the highs and lows of reaching her goal make it remarkable. Her story is engaging and relatable, leaving us not only inspired, but with hope in our hearts, full of wonder for the world of possibility that awaits when we find the courage to test our limits. Then one sunny day in November 2008, everything came to a crashing halt: his 450cc dirt bike slammed into his buddy's in a head-on collision that nearly killed them both. Fifteen days in an induced coma, a complete facial reconstruction and countless surgeries were followed by years of intensive rehabilitation. With exhausting mental and physical effort, Scott learned how to walk, talk and think again. He could have given up - with only one working arm and a severe brain injury, every day was a challenge. Instead, with the help of an amazing medical team, Scott pushed himself to the limit, setting goals and developing the will to achieve them. In time Scott set his ultimate goal: to travel solo around the world. By snowboarding in Canada, backpacking in Europe, sailing down the Nile, and island-hopping in Greece - where he met the love of his life, Jasmine - Scott regained his independence and built a new and fulfilling life. Crashing Into Potential is the incredible story of coming to terms with acquired physical disabilities, living with an injured brain, and the unfailing determination to never give up. One special lady in particular who truly believed in me and who understood me is Bernadette Foley. Thanks, Bernadette, for all the help and direction you have given me in both this book and in life; this book is where it is because of you and I am where I am because of you. <image:caption>How to give yourself permission to be you Written by Susan Ingall Edited and produced by Broadcast Books Get into Your True Comfort Zone and give yourself permission to be you! Too often we believe the only way to grow and achieve success is to get out of our comfort zone. This can lead to frustration and disillusionment. What if you discovered another way? Instead of getting out of your comfort zone, you get into your true comfort zone. Professional speaker and performance coach, Susan Ingall, outlines a 5-step formula that will change your perspective on what being in your comfort zone really means. She shows you how to: Identify if being in your comfort zone is working for you Gain clarity and confidence Give yourself permission to be you Operate within your true comfort zone; and, Find freedom and fulfilment and succeed on your own terms. By increasing performance and productivity in this zone, you will achieve more than you ever thought possible. Based on research, life experience and client studies, Susan has disrupted the meaning of ‘comfort zone’ so you can succeed on your terms. ‘I believe that what most of us truly desire is to get into what I call your true comfort zone. That place where you honour your talents, your natural genius and the full expression of who you are, aligned to your higher purpose.’ – Susan Ingall To order a copy of Get Into Your True Comfort Zone visit Author to You.</image:caption>

<image:caption>How to focus and energise your workplace Written by Dr Gayle Smerdon Edited and produced by Broadcast Books Tired of working in an Every-thing workplace where you're so busy you can't ever catch your breath? Or fed up with the frustration of a stifling No-thing workplace where getting anything done is impossible? From personal experience, conversations with clients, and extensive research, Gayle Smerdon PhD realised the importance for organisations to stop wasting time, money, and people's goodwill by trying to do far too much or far too little. By doing ONE THING and doing it deep, Gayle shows how you can focus on progressive incremental changes that will enrich your workplace culture. <image:caption>A novel Written by Ned Manning Published by Broadcast Books Nell Hope escapes the constraints of being the daughter of one of Australia’s leading merino breeders to pursue her dream of becoming an artist in Paris. At the same time, Alec Murray turns his back on the legal career his father has mapped out for him to try his luck converting scrub country in Central Western New South Wales into viable farming land. Hitler’s march into Europe brings their dreams to a shuddering halt. Nell’s forced home to work on the family property, while Alec enlists and joins the war effort in on the other side of the world. Over champagne in Sydney’s glamourous new nightclub, Nell and Alec begin a whirlwind wartime romance. But their experiences of the war change them. Together, they’re driven by a vision of a new, fairer Australia, even though they know they’ll be ostracised by family and friends alike as they work to achieve it. Based on real people and events in Australian history, Painting the Light is a story of love between two people and their love for their country. I would like to acknowledge the support and assistance I have received from Bernadette Foley and Broadcast Books, as well as all those who have encouraged me on this ten-year journey to publication. <image:caption>One Brit, one Aussie, four wheels and five countries Written by Steve Willis Edited and produced by Broadcast Books Steve and Jenny’s enthusiasm and determination outweighed their cycling, map reading and foreign language skills, and led them on an adventure across five countries in 90 days. It was 1984, well before the internet and Brexit, when cycling had yet to become a passion for ‘middle aged men in Lycra’. But…riding was the cheapest way to travel, so Steve and Jenny took to the road – peddling up mountains, through medieval towns and along the byways of Europe. With humour and insight, Steve recalls a time when going ‘off grid’ wasn’t an option for which you were charged extra. On their journey, they experienced ways of life very different from their own in London and Sydney. From the French and their love of food and life; the Italians, who seemed to hug everything and everyone in a passionate embrace; the Swiss with their well-ordered existence; the Germans, who closely resembled the British but with better beer; and finally, to the Dutch, whose capital Amsterdam had a laissez faire attitude other cities could only dream about. Europe Over the Handlebars will delight everyone who has a love for Europe in its pre-Euro diversity. To order a copy of Europe over the Handlebars visit Booktopia.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The Story of South Australia’s Beloved Department Store Written by Paul Flavel Edited and produced by Broadcast Books As you read Paul Flavel's comprehensive and endearing John Martin's, memories of riding in the lifts, dining in The Buttery, or getting ready on pageant day will take you back to a bygone era of retail in Adelaide. The doors to John Martin's are open once more thanks to the stories from former staff and customers, rarely seen photographs and Paul Flavel's impeccable research that fill the pages of this book. It tells, for the very first time, the history of a beloved and iconic department store. Opened in 1866, John Martin's flourished for over 130 years, until the unthinkable happened and the store in Rundle Mall, Adelaide, closed in 1998. The passing of the years has not dulled South Australians' love for 'Johnnies'. Thousands of people worked there and even more loyally shopped there. John Martin's was the company that brought The Beatles to Adelaide, and the store that delighted generations of children with its Christmas Cave and pageant. Run by the illustrious Hayward family for most of its existence, John Martin's gave everything it had to the people of South Australia. “Flavel provides the context for John Martin’s retail history and enlivens it with his warm and conversational tone.” — Julie Collins, University of South Australia Dear Bernadette, thank you for helping bring to life Johnnies. <image:title>Sidnie Meets Uncle Sam - Sidnie Meets Uncle Sam</image:title>
<image:caption>Travels with my mum Written by Karen Waldman Edited and produced by Broadcast Books For Sidnie, the smart, handsome (if not quite prize-winning) cocker spaniel, life at home in Australia is just fine. But when Mum decides to spend a few years living on Sidnie’s human dad’s Christmas tree farm in America, he has to go along too. Through his own words, with Mum’s help, Sidnie tells of the thrills, struggles and delights of moving to the other side of the world. In among the Christmas trees, he runs into intimidating stags and gun-toting deer hunters, plays hide-and-seek with the friendlier wildlife, and chases squirrels as they gather nuts for winter. With gusto, he throws himself into his first American Christmas party! And even an urgent dash to the vet’s after helping himself to chocolate cupcakes doesn’t diminish his enjoyment. With the humour and wisdom you’d expect of a cocker spaniel, Sidnie keenly observes the antics of the ‘choose and cut’ Christmas tree customers, ponders the attitudes of New Jersey’s two- and four-legged inhabitants, and illuminates the joys and challenges he and his human mum encounter in the land of Uncle Sam. ‘The book couldn’t have come to fruition without the professional management of Bernadette Foley of Broadcast Books, Sydney. Always thoughtful and pragmatic, she steered Sidnie’s manuscript through the mysterious publishing processes.’ Karen Waldman To order a copy of Sidnie Meets Uncle Sam visit Booktopia.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Creating Trinity Foundation Studies Written by Denis White Edited and produced by Broadcast Books This 'moonshot' story zooms across the tumultuous formative years of Foundation Studies at Trinity College. Affiliated with the University of Melbourne, Trinity was penurious in the 1980s until a bold band of alumni, with a willing Warden, unleashed a brave plan to establish a pathway for international students to the University of Melbourne. The University Dream portrays the ups and downs in the first ten years of this truly entrepreneurial startup. It is a story of determined individuals and high calibre institutions; of co-operation and commitment; of vision and discipline; of a program with a philosophy, and an organisation with a focus. Above all, it is a story about 'the courage to go', displayed over thirty years by more than twenty thousand teenagers who left their homelands in Asia to travel to Australia to pursue their dream of a degree from the University of Melbourne by enrolling at Trinity, completing Foundation Studies, and going on to complete their degrees.. <image:caption>A memoir of addiction Written by Robyn Flemming Edited and produced by Broadcast Books Who hasn’t sometimes wanted to change their life and start over? When Robyn Flemming left Australia to wander the world as a nomadic freelance editor, she was single and nearing sixty. It wasn’t the first time she had shed an old skin for a new one in the hope of changing who she was on the inside. Was her decision to risk everything yet again an act of faith or of folly? Was she running from the truth about her dependence on alcohol, or running towards a solution? In this captivating recovery and travel memoir, Robyn finds the courage to change not only her surroundings but herself. Finally, she can be at home in her own skin as well as in the world. Skinful is about the questions we ask at life’s turning points: Who am I? What life do I want to live? This heart-warming, sometimes heart-wrenching, memoir sends a strong message of hope: it’s never too late to make a new path to a different future. <image:title>Meandering Road - Meandering Road</image:title>
<image:caption>Stories inspired by images, travel and life experiences across continents Written by Johan du Toit Edited and produced by Broadcast Books A young man embarks on a journey across outback Australia in search of his father, on the other side of the world an innocent soul finds himself on death row; a family responds to the new South Africa at the end of the apartheid era; an only daughter confronts her mother about a family secret; a classical musician reflects on the privilege of having an older sister who is always there to take care of him … The stories in Meandering Road were inspired by pictures shared among the members of a writers’ group. This inspiration gave Johan du Toit the freedom to explore characters and draw on his personal experiences in Australia, the United States, South Africa, and beyond. The result is a collection that celebrates the lives of regular people. When I was first introduced to Bernadette Foley at Broadcast Books my collection of short stories was no more than an optimistic first draft. With Bernadette's experience and generous guidance Meandering Road became a reality less than 12 months later. Forever grateful. <image:caption>A Family History of Elsie Margaret Smith, my Mother Written by William Mackarell Edited and produced by Broadcast Books On one side of Elsie Margaret Smith’s family, the Thomases came from Irish stock, while the Smiths descended from generations of fishermen from the Shetland Islands. They were all hard-working women and men who had led tough lives. On the other side, her mother was a Crockett, whose family was in complete contrast to the Smiths. The Smiths were solid, straightforward folk of Shetland, while the Crocketts were volatile, aggressive and colourful, with a background forged in the industrial city of Birmingham, where survival of the fittest was the order of the day. It was not surprising, therefore, to discover that my mother’s ancestral line had some links with Australia’s convict history through the Crockett side of the family. This is the story of how the Smith, Thomas and Crockett families found their way to Australia and how, through the marriage of George Smith and Sarah Thomas, they merged to form the Smith family. As it traces the growth of my mother’s family, From the Shetlands to Sydney also follows the development of the colony of New South Wales, from its infancy to the present. My special thanks go to: Bernadette Foley and Liz Seymour at Broadcast Books and Peter Vaughan-Reid and Carolyn Page for their support and understanding and for their sympathetic editing, proofreading and creative design. She throws caution aside, books herself a one-way ticket from Australia, and joins the crew of a yacht in the Caribbean to satisfy her growing desire for adventure. Once aboard the old racing yacht in Antigua, Regina and her fellow crew members work tirelessly under the watchful eye of its cantankerous owner as they prepare for the vessel's planned passage back to Queensland. During a sultry sunset dance on a clifftop, Regina encounters an alluring man who makes her question what she is looking for. When the sailing trip comes to an abrupt end, she must leave Antigua and the budding romance and face tough decisions that will alter the course she'd planned for herself. A new life beckons, but is it worth abandoning the safety back home to follow her dreams? This a true story of Regina's wanderings in the Caribbean, her passion for sailing and the unexpected, of love lost and found, and her search for freedom. Bernadette Foley. <image:caption>A war for no wise purpose Written by S. J. Butler Produced and edited by Broadcast Books In A Very British Disaster, S.J. Butler brings to life the bumbling leaders of Britain’s   rst invasion of Afghanistan in 1839 and its deadly ending three years later. She also celebrates the courageous hostages of the Afghan hero, Akbar Khan, among them the stoic and forthright Lady Sale, the pragmatic, self-deprecating Captain Mackenzie, and the well-meaning but dithering General Elphinstone. Interlaced with the story of the hostages are the combative goings-on in Calcutta between the waspish and sharp-witted Emily Eden, her silly sister, Hetty, and their exalted brother George, the Governor-General of India and the instigator of the catastrophe. Amongst the accounts of great loss, based on real events, S.J. Butler weaves in humour and creates an enthralling narrative of ordinary people who found themselves in an extraordinary situation. A Very British Disaster is a story of folly, incompetence and arrogance, but also of endurance, desperate hope and survival against impossible odds. It was a subject John spent his life researching, as a criminal barrister, a writer, a father, a mentor, a friend and a truly human human being. Here he lays out and encapsulates his findings for all to read.” – Margot Hutcheson “John Bryson was a poet, storyteller, rally-car driver, high-end racing sailor and rower, nature lover and a practising criminal barrister through to his middle years. A fighter for justice and the fair go. A Brief History of Thought – Unfinished is his last work, his final case. In it, he puts the case for the power of philosophy and the Arts, through history. You'll laugh and cry as you read this raw and honest account, written by a loving daughter in a way that is relatable and real. This compelling book will be both a source of comfort and an insight into the realities of life for anyone whose loved one is suffering from this soul-destroying disease. <image:title>Cry Out in Silence - Cry Out in Silence</image:title>
<image:caption>Written by Carol Rozzoli Edited and produced by Broadcast Books Cover ups, secrecy and abuse … can a young boy’s drawings lead Caitlin to his killer? When Sean, a twelve-year-old boy from a Catholic orphanage, dies mysteriously, his art teacher, Caitlin Cheney, confronts a web of secrecy about his death. Set in 1973, when most people refused to acknowledge the abuse of children, Caitlin's husband, a successful corporate lawyer seeking election to the New South Wales Parliament, does all he can to block her efforts to seek the truth. But she has allies in Richard Brinsmead, charismatic Opposition Leader, Quinn, an eccentric private investigator, and Lexy, her closest friend. Caitlin's crusade probes the hypocrisy of the Catholic Church, the police, politics, big business and the law, as she attempts to shine a light on the plight of helpless children. In the process, she puts her own life on the line. To unravel the mystery, Caitlin creates a series of paintings based on Sean's drawings. Through this, she realises that behind those she exposes as paedophiles, there is a malevolent mastermind who is prepared to kill. About the author Carol Rozzoli was a luminary of Julian Ashton Art School, with a Catholic background and a husband who was both a politician and a lawyer. She turned her talents to writing, attending Roland Fishman's Writers Studio, completing the full novel course. From this rich background, and a passion to help children in crisis, Cry Out in Silence emerged from the mists of Katoomba. <image:caption>My Life of Adventure and the People Who Made It Happen Written by Ken Allen AO Edited and produced by Broadcast Books In Creating Ripples, I write the story of my personal and professional life from my own point of view. It is full of memories and is touched with a sense of eternal optimism. All my life I have created ripples. Starting with my birth in Adelaide, when a small ripple grew bigger and bigger and eventually took my wife Jill and our three boys and me all around the world. Our family has done so many wonderful things together. We have visited countries all around the globe, lived by the sea, in the mountains and in some of the great cities of the world. Jill and I have met amazing people – ordinary people, kings, queens, emperors, tycoons, prime ministers, leading educators, scientists, sportsmen and women, the list goes on and on. This book also embraces my business career, which spanned over sixty years, in various countries and in many different roles. It began at the start of a rapidly globalising world. During those years I was fortunate to connect with many of the major players who were working on the world stage and making this global transformation a reality.</image:caption>

<image:caption>And Other Stories Written by Johan du Toit Edited and produced by Broadcast Books A compelling collection of short stories by Johan du Toit. The unwashed man woken by kookaburras at first light and his unlikely friendship with Benny, whose life on the street started when he was only ten years old; the young woman who left her family home under cover of darkness to escape a brutal regime; a cranky old farmer forced to share a hospital ward with an inquisitive but desperately sick boy; the goatherd in the Judean desert who first mistook the Hebrew woman and her Palestinian companion as sisters; a father confronted by his teenage son's version of history, the soldier who held on to the image of a couple's embrace during a war that made no sense. These are some of the characters whose life experiences we discover in When Only Today Matters and Other Stories. They will leave us with questions, sometimes make us smile, and lead us to think about our own place in the world. About the author Johan du Toit grew up in a remote community, eight hours’ drive north of Cape Town in South Africa. He immigrated to Australia with his family in 1994. Johan found an opportunity to write short fiction through membership of a writers’ group. In 2022 Meandering Road, a collection of his short stories, was published by Broadcast Books. <image:caption>100 Years of Victorian Table Tennis Written by Bob Tuckett and Andrew Cornell Edited and produced by Broadcast Books Victorian table tennis has had its share of thrilling events, dramas and surprises, and this centenary history captures them all, along with celebrating the coaches, the officials and, most of all, the players. From ping-pong games in church halls to Olympic tournaments, table tennis is now a global sport. Played in Victoria since the 19th century, 2025 marks the centenary of the state's official body, today called Table Tennis Victoria. The earliest stars of the sport, such as Arch Champion, the first Australian national title holder, included multisport talents and potato farmers. Dedicated officials - mostly volunteers - have stewarded table tennis and helped it to flourish; people who served for decades like Ron Jones, Joan Guggenheim and Albert Cooper. Wirth's Olympia, Earls Court and the Albert Park Nissen huts have housed table tennis' Victorian headquarters and now it's played in dozens of centres across Melbourne and the regions. Table tennis in Victoria is also a story of multicultural Australia, as it was enriched by waves of immigrants from Europe and Asia. Champions such as Hungarian Suzy Javor, Thailand's Charlie Wuvanich and Chinese Miao Miao delighted the crowds and raised the standard of the local game. Do you know what's within you? If it's deadly asbestos, you'd better have what it takes to fight for what's right. James and Jenny Henderson came to Australia for a new life. They started a family and worked hard for a brighter future. They never expected to be fighting for their lives or for justice in a court case against two of Australia's largest companies. Big-end lawyer Bruce Fraser hopes to springboard into partnership and fame with a win for his client, a leading asbestos-cement manufacturer. Plaintiff lawyer Viviana Glosioli must overcome her self-doubt, her boss's advances and the sausage-factory mentality of her firm if she's to secure a win for James and Jenny. What unfolds is the ugly truth of asbestos and the legal industry it spawned. James and Jenny's story embodies the history of asbestos exploitation in Australia. Their legal battle has the potential to change the law forever. Money, careers, reputations, lives – everything is at stake. Where will the dust settle when all is said and done? About the author Dr Duncan E Graham is a Sydney writer, senior counsel at the NSW Bar and medical doctor. He co-authored Why Patients Sue Doctors (Elsevier). For over a decade, Duncan acted almost exclusively in cases involving people suffering from asbestos-related diseases. His knowledge of the history of the asbestos industry, the medical issues concerning asbestos, the role of governments and big business, and the key issues in asbestos litigation is unparalleled. His practice now focuses on medical negligence and complex medical device class actions. He has represented hundreds of people injured through the negligence of hospitals and doctors and thousands more injured from harmful medical products. Skiing Off The Roof is a book about the legendary pioneer skiers, adventurers, snowboarders, summer stockmen, environmental warriors, ski club members and mountain staff – the colourful denizens who have carved deep tracks on the frozen slops around Charlotte Pass during the past century. The book contains 450 wonderful photos, many of them rare. Author Rick Walkom arrived at Charlotte Pass in the New South Wales Snowy Mountains in 1975, after completing university. He was keen to take a short working holiday with a couple of mates before settling down to a life on the land. It was not to be! This famous, snowbound outpost of winter sport on the roof of Australia seduced and captivated him, and he stayed for fifteen seasons. “Rick has written a wonderful and insightful history of Charlotte Pass. <image:caption>How a National Plan for Gender Equality can Drive Australia’s Economic Success Written by Dr Kathryn J Evans Edited and produced by Broadcast Books The belief in a ‘fair go’ is embedded in our society, yet gender inequality continues to be a problem – and it’s holding our economy back. So, what can be done about it and why should Australia as a nation care? There’s a strong moral argument that men and women deserve equal access to health, education, economic participation, earning potential, and political decision-making power. Arguably even more important in these uncertain times, though, is the fact that gender parity has a significant impact on growth, correlating strongly with GDP per capita and economic competitiveness. As we strive for a sustainable future, the research supports the proposal for Australia to invest in a comprehensive national approach to gender equality – to reap economic rewards estimated to be more than $200 billion. At the current pace of change, the World Economic Forum predicts it will take more than 135 years to close the gender inequality gap. Intervention is necessary to achieve widespread change for Australia’s economic success. Implementing a National Strategic Action Plan for Gender Equality is key to transforming our future and Advancing Australia Fairly.</image:caption>

<image:caption>How to support and talk to young athletes before, during and after the game Written by Doctor Jay-Lee Nair Edited and produced by Broadcast Books Are you a parent who wants to be a part of their child’s sport journey, no matter how far they go? Do you sometimes feel just as frustrated as your young athlete with the debrief during the journey home after the game? Perhaps you struggle to find the right words to say — or sometimes not to say — to your child, so have resorted to saying nothing at all. Dr Jay-Lee Nair has the answers. This book will help you learn how best to support and talk to your child not just before before, but during and after the game. Recent events surrounding sport icons, such as Adam Goodes, Naomi Osaka and Simone Biles, have shown us that athletes are taking greater ownership of their performance and ‘calling the shots’ in the most difficult of circumstances. This is possible when an athlete has a collaborative support team. The same applies for young athletes at all stages of their career and at all levels of their sport. They benefit from having a support team of their parents, coaches and teachers, who understand the importance of helping them to be independent and adaptable. This generation can be highly resistant to advice and direction from their supporters. Young athletes want to be empowered to think for themselves during the game and adapt quickly on their own. This book is for parents, coaches and teachers who want to help their young athletes thrive in competitive environments – whether they are just starting out or competing at an elite level. It is for those who believe in the power sport has to positively shape children into exceptional adults — and athletes — while preventing anxiety and pressure in the sport journey. My warm thanks to Bernadette Foley, my editor, who worked tirelessly to ensure my book was concise, clear and accessible beyond the technical community. She did so while carefully preserving my voice. When I reached out to Bernadette, I was looking for an experienced book editor, but in the end, I also found a mentor who guided me throughout my writing journey with grace and patience. <image:caption>How to make love stick Written by Vinko Anthony Published by Broadcast Books For gay men, dating apps can create the illusion of infinite options. But behind the endless swiping lies a truth: real love is not about choice overload, it’s about depth. When Vinko Anthony and Andrea Zaza met, they faced their own choice. A holiday romance spanning Australia and Europe could have been just a fling. Yet they decided to listen – to themselves, to each other, and to what they truly wanted. That listening became the foundation of a lifelong commitment. They went all in. All In is a love story and more. Vinko invites us to see love differently. He takes us on a journey into what it means to show up fully for another person, to embrace vulnerability, and to rediscover the art of courtship in a world that has forgotten its value. What works? What makes love last? These are some of the questions All In answers. It is for gay men, for anyone searching for connection, and for all who believe that love, nurtured with patience and presence, can change everything. “A clarion call to shed the masks we wear and embrace our true selves. This book is a powerful guide to finding love – authentic, transformative love – by first learning to love who we are. It is a must-read for anyone who is ready to embrace vulnerability and step into a life full of love, joy and soulful connection.” — Mandy McElhinney About the author Vinko Anthony was born in Croatia (then Yugoslavia), in 1971 and immigrated to Australia. From an early age, he showed a strong entrepreneurial spirit – running small businesses at the age of thirteen while still studying. This drive evolved into founding his own global company at the age of 40. Over the years, he has built a truly international career across various fields – from high-end fashion to alternative medicine, healing and yoga. What has always defined Vinko’s world are the friendships he has nurtured and his deep belief in making life a more joyful, meaningful place for others. Alongside his business ventures and life experiences, Vinko has always been writing and painting. This book brings together his personal journey, professional path and relationships, with the intention of inspiring others to live fully and embrace life with love and authenticity. Vinko lives in Sydney with his husband Andrea. To Bernadette Foley – thank you for believing in All In exactly as it was meant to be. You were the only person in the publishing world who didn’t try to reshape it into something else, and that trust gave me peace and confidence from the very first moment we met. <image:caption>What to do when everything sucks Written by Gayle Smerdon Designed by Matthew Oswald, Like Design Published by Broadcast Books The Bad Day Playbook is a practical, evidence-informed guide to navigating difficult days – the kind where deep frustrations and disappointments start you sinking deeply into the couch. Rather than offering sweeping life changes or forced optimism, the book focuses on small ‘plays’ that interrupt unhelpful spirals and restore a sense of control in the moment. Drawing on real-world experience and grounded psychology, Dr Gayle Smerdon combines clarity, warmth, and humour to help readers recognise what’s happening and choose responses that genuinely help. There’s no toxic positivity and no pressure to ‘fix’ yourself. Just thoughtful strategies for managing rough moments and, once you’re through them, ideas for staying steady for longer. About the author Dr Gayle Smerdon is a Melbournebased writer, speaker and workplace culture specialist. She has previously published books on learning and workplace change and regularly publishes on LinkedIn to her 11,000+ followers.
